FPV Flythrough

Experience the space in motion

An FPV flythrough is a single unbroken shot flown through a space. The camera moves the way a visitor would — in through the door, across the room, up a stairwell and out over the terrace — with no cut to break the sense of being there.

We fly these for places that are sold on atmosphere rather than on floorplans: hotels, restaurants, bars, function rooms and showrooms. A set of stills tells someone what a room contains. A flythrough tells them what it is like to walk into it.

An atrium is flown as one drop — from the roof light down past every balcony to the lobby floor, without a cut and without a lift.

The shot

One continuous take

A flythrough is planned as a single move, because that is what it has to be — there is nowhere to hide a cut. The route is walked and timed before it is flown, and it usually runs something like this.

  1. Approach

The take opens outside, placing the building on its street so the viewer knows where they are before they are anywhere.

  2. Entry

In through the doors at walking height, so the arrival lands the way a guest's would rather than as a cut to an interior.

  3. Front of house

Across reception and the lounge, slow enough to hold the finishes, the lighting and the details the room is sold on.

  4. Through the building

Stairwells, corridors and lift lobbies — the connective spaces a photo set skips, and the ones that make a venue read as a whole rather than a list of rooms.

  5. Reveal

Out into the space the booking is actually for: the dining room, the suite, the function hall, the terrace.

Venues

Where we fly

  • Hotel lounge with low seating, lamps and a stone feature wall

    Hotels and resorts

Lobby to suite to rooftop in one move — the sequence a guest walks, shown as a walk rather than as a gallery.

  • Restaurant dining room with set tables and pendant lamps beside a window

    Restaurants and bars

Rooms that are sold on atmosphere, where the light, the noise and the space between tables are the product.

  • Ballroom set with round banquet tables under chandeliers

    Function and event spaces

A hall shown at full size and in one pass, so a client planning an event can read the room's scale immediately.

Equipment

Flown first-person

  1. The pilot flies it, not a waypoint

The pilot wears goggles carrying a live feed from the aircraft and flies the shot by hand, rather than programming a path in advance.
  2. Small enough for the gaps

The aircraft is light and compact, which is what lets it hold a line through furniture, doorways and stairwells.
  3. Planned around the building

Routes, timings and access are agreed with the venue before anything leaves the ground, and the flight is worked around the people in it.

Why FPV

What the single take buys you

  • One move, not twenty clips

The whole venue is covered in a single take, so nothing has to be assembled in the edit — and nothing looks assembled.
  • Lines no rig can follow

Through a doorway, down a stairwell, over a full dining room and out of a window: paths a slider, a jib or a handheld gimbal cannot travel.
  • Momentum

The shot never stops moving, which is what carries a viewer through an entire building instead of the first two rooms of it.
